The advantage of using a tour guide is that there is someone to lead the way, but at the same time I think that takes a bit away from the adventures of traveling.

How was your experience with a guided tour? Did you enjoy it? Did you wish you had more free time to do what you wanted?

How about independent traveling? Do you think its just too hard to plan? Cost more?

Is it possible to travel From the U.S to Europe by boat? I’m not talking about a cruise ship, just a boat that will take me there. I plan to back pack during the summer after my senior year, I think traveling there by boat would add more to the adventure and cost less, plus I don’t like flying much

I will be travelling by train through Romania and Moldova and thought a side trip “for adventure” would be interesting. Does anybody know requirements, ie visas, fees, etc. This is over a year out- just scouting out posssibilities.

I would like to spend a year traveling through Europe. I mainly want to spend time in Greece, Italy, Spain, France, and England, and I am not planning on staying in expensive hotels or eating in gourmet restaurants. How can I go about figuring out how much money this adventure will cost me?
