When are good times to travel to Florida?

I live in Washington state, and want to go to Islands of Adventure. I’d like to know how I can avoid the hurricanes Florida is known for having.
For those of you who may not know this, Islands of Adventure is one of the Universal Studios themeparks.
Hurricane season is during the Summer. I just said I wanted to avoid the hurricanes, so I’m not going to do my traveling then.
